Splitting My Articles into Two Publications
An idea from my subscribers
Listening to input from several of my subscribers, here’s an idea that will please them and hopefully many more of my subscribers.
As a philosopher and writer, I try to address topics in two broad areas. In one area, I write about philosophical concepts and apply them to everyday life, making philosophy relevant. In the other area I try to make sense of politics and political ideologies, in particular, how we can respond to the resurgence of regressive political movements.
I feel obligated to write about topics in both areas, but I understand that not everyone wants to read about both. I respect that.
Therefore, I have created a new publication on which I will publish all of my future articles on politics, leaving Insert Philosophy Here for discussions of philosophy and nonpolitical culture.
The new publication is I’m Not Your Echo Chamber. The name reflects the unfortunate reality that almost all political writing is posted in an echo chamber repeating a party line and telling people what they want to hear. I offer something else—straight independent talk, analysis, and discussion of political issues that matter.
I explain my approach for the new publication in this article.
I will still publish articles here on Insert Philosophy Here that inserts real philosophy into real life. Separating the political from the nonpolitical is what some people want, and I respect that. Please subscribe to one or both, and please keep sharing with me your feedback and how I can help you.
Best,
Dr. Douglas Giles
